Visit South Padre Island

The Situation
VSPI abruptly lost their CEO leaving their city manager scrambling. While working with Searchwide Global to recruit a new replacement, an assessment was recommended and OA was called.

What We Did
Using our proprietary OA Scorecard™, OA conducted a 90-day deep dive on the organizational structure including interviews with all staff, department reviews, and a review of DMAP level best practices. The final report was written directly to the incoming CEO as a tool for onboarding.

The Outcome
A comprehensive list of recommendations were created including development of a new Festival & Events Grant Program, a re-organization of staff roles and assistance in onboarding new partners such as Tourism Economics and TwoSix Digital.

The Situation
Palm Beach county is one of the most mature tourism destinations in the country…and yet one of the fastest growing with money and power flowing in weekly. The DMO needed a fresh strategy to reflect the changes times, both physically and technologically.

What We Did
With one of the most impressive boards in the country plus some of the top brands in the world, it was important to listen and then guide transformational change.

The Outcome
A new multi-year strategic plan developed with aspirational KPI’s and a leadership team tasked with leading Palm Beach County into it’s next iteration of dominance.

CUSTOM ORGANIZATIONAL ASSESSMENT

Visit Seattle

The Situation
Seattle tourism has exploded since the pandemic with a highly influential new CEO and a TPID that doubled the budget leading to a 3x staffing increase over three years but still operating under a pre-pandemic structure.

What We Did
Through one-on-one interviews with department leaders, a review of their recent culture assessment, and the direction to think big, multiple org chart options were created and presenting during a full-day leadership team retreat designed to level set and build a best in class operating structure.

The Outcome
Key departments were streamlined and re-imagined, putting aces in their places resulting in increased collaboration and communication across departments.

Custom Regional Sports Alignment WORKSHOP

Richmond Region Tourism

The Situation
The Richmond region has some of the best sports tourism minds and sports facilities in the country; punching way above its weight class. But this growth has also began to cause inefficiencies and confusion in the sales process. OA was tasked with creating a new playbook followed by all parties.

What We Did
OA conducted 20 interviews with key regional sports leaders, facilities and clients to find out where there were opportunities for improvement. A half-day workshop brought all partners together for tough and honest conversations and to develop that playbook.

The Outcome
The 90-Day roadmap has launched, the regions DMOs, sports commissions and Richmond Region Tourism are working individually and collectively to create strategies for success and trust in growing. The future is bright for Richmond region sports.

Rice Lake Tourism

The Situation
Rice Lake, Wisconsin is a small but mighty outdoor recreation paradise. A new Mayor, focused on tourism re-structured the tourism commission and staff and wanted a best practice ran organization and strategy.

What We Did
Using both the OA Scorecard™ and OA Method™ strategic planning process, OA worked with the solo staff member to assess the organization model and develop a first ever Rice Lake tourism strategic plan.

The Outcome
Working alongside OA staff on a monthly basis, Rice Lake is slowly structuring their organization and tourism infrastructure for future success. This includes a restructuring board governance, developing financial policies and a new budget, enhancing marketing and data analytics and getting involved in destination development projects. The future of Rice Lake tourism is bright.

The Situation
After 29 years, Columbus found themselves with a new tourism leader equipped with a fresh CDME credential, the support of the staff and community and a desire to create a best practice organization.

What We Did
Using the OA Method™ strategic planning process, OA asked tough questions, got the board and staff out of their comfort zone and set the stage for future success. Additionally, OA conducted a board best practices session focused on the separation of staff and board and how the board can be supportive to the team.

The Outcome
A new multi-year strategic plan that strategically placed VisitColumbusGA as a leader in the community and a table setter for strategic community discussions and a Board of Directors updating their bylaws and committee structure.
